Default eSATA connectors on 939SLI32 ?

Can anyone tell how to attach this
into this!?
( cable is ruined slightly 'coz I did force it )

I never tried before those connectors but now with SATA DVDRW, none of three cables I have doesn't fit into?!
Am I crazy or it's something wrong with those pictures
I don't see nowhere that it needs special cables!
b.t.w. direct connection is not supported either(?!?)

Thanks

Sata cables have a L shaped connector for polarity and keying on one side. This can be seen on your cable photo on the left side of the connector. The funny thing is the socket should have it too. So I went and dug out my E-sata pass thru for my Asus and it has the L-key on both sides. Something is not right about that MB I/O, it looks like USB. You must have a sata slot adapter that came with the board lying around.

Thx Tweakurr,
yes I believe that AsRock did something wrong here while no adapter or such included, just two regular Sata cables for connections on the mobo and two for the inside drives. I never really did pay attention on this and now just can't believe.
This was my second AR board but I think I'm going to switch to another brand now. Turn this mobo to 939 back again with just one HDD and buy another for AM2, preferably Gigabyte

_______
Oh boy, those connectors are just for specific e-HDD brands. It's just silly, where I'm going to find those, it should be universal. Sometimes, those great inventions from AsRock are just useless!

Default E-Sata Connectors

Hi folks

I have an Asrock 939sli-Esata2 Motherboard, I have been running an Antec MX-1 E-Sata enclosure that connects to the motherboard with out issue.

The E-Sata connector is called an "I" connector rather than the "L" connector for normal Sata.

Check out http://www.serialata.org/esata.asp

The External connector has no “L” shaped key,
Wow good to know, thanks teddy4. Strange my board is a e-sata setup, yet it still uses the L-shaped connecters both in and outside.

Very good article, thx teddy4!
I never really payed attention on the Asrock Sata-info page, which explain how to use it. Mea Culpa!
However, when it comes to this stage that it's not possible to use ext. Sata easily I've lost the interest in it. It just means - more expensive accessories, more cables, more power and finally more room on the table. It is shame that those connectors on the MB cannot be used for internal drives. I did try and it just doesn't work! And that is the mystery to me

Which connector are you having trouple with, on my 939sli-esata2 I can use all four internal Sata connectors without issue.

I have also got a Sata DVD burner on it too.

I have two sata disks on the two internal connections and no problem. But when I connect one DVDRW-Sata on the one (red or orange) which is supposed for external use, it appears in Bios but Windows doesn't boot!?

It would appear Asrock have changed their view on this.

its at the bottom. I had a long boot delay and this is where they pointed me to for a resolution, which cured my issue

Thanks a lot but it doesn't help! No matter how I connect (2 Sata disks and 1 Sata DVDRW) and I did try every possible combination, all I got is this

And I have had enough! The next thing I'll do is to order brand new MB and keep this one with my old +3000 Athlon! This board is good but when it comes into new water of Vista, Brisbane, etc. it sinks
