On my gf's K7SOM - i think thats the one, have to check, windows sometimes just wont load all the system tray programs, and when u go to open a program, it just doesnt load...any ideas??

is it a swapfile problem??

Are utilities like defrag and scandisk run regularly? What version of windows? Please give us more clues.

Win XP Pro...defrag every now and then...and scan disk

Can you do a repair or reinstall of WinXP? I don't know anything about that OS but your problem seems to be software and not the motherboard.
