Cool

I own an A7S333 running bios 1004 (final).
I just ordered a 1800+ thoroughbred (multiplier unlocked).

I thought I might be able to lower the multiplier and use the 333 MHz FSB with synchronous memory frequency (333/333).

Now, the bios supports 166 MHz FSB, but that's through overclocking. The setting is 166/41, meaning the PCI bus runs overclocked @ 41.5 MHz.

The SiS745 is said to support the 333 MHz FSB and the 1/5 multiplier, so I'm wondering, does anyone know if Asus intends to release a bios that officially supports 333FSB Athlons ?

I haven't tried bios 1005.003...
If someone tried it, could you report on the presence/absence of the 1/5 mulitplier and 333 MHz FBS settings ?

Cheers & SiS forever!

Cool

Setting you DDR to 166 while keeping your FSB at 133 is easy: just choose the 4:5 FSB:MEM ratio (default is 1:1).

However, operating in asynchronous mode will actually slow you down, so you're better off with 133:133 than 133:166.

That's why I'm after 166 FSB support so I can reach 166:166... That should rock

Cool

Well, I finally gave a try to 1005.003.

Good news is everyting still works.
Bad news is nothing at all has changed in the bios!

I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer if the A7S333 is to have true 333 MHz FSB support...

I heard from many Asus forums the A7S333 will not ever officially support FSB333
But the chipset is capable of running FSB333 with correct PCI and AGP divisor - seen on MSI 745 Ultra (the best released SIS 745 based mainboard)
