Question

Hi,
I've an A7V8X rev 1.04 with the last bios-rev 1008. I want to install windowsXP with my ata HD on my raid. If i used the help in the readmeFile, i can't install Windows. I copied the latest Driver to a floppy, and pressed F6, but it won't find my HD. I must connect my HD to the nonRaid- Port to Install my OS. What can I do, because I will have a SATA HD in the next time, but in the moment, i can't install winxp on it.

PS my Eng isn't the best

thx bithunter_99

HI
Have you taken a look at your jumper settings for your harddisk?
The drive HAS to be a master, so be sure that:
a) it is jumpered MASTER
b) it is jumpered CABLE SELECT and it is connected to the cable's end.

There really is no point in trying to create a single raid drive ;), besides that you cant use two ide drives for raid on the A7v8X board.
But if you're going to create a mirror raid system do as follows.

Attach the drive to the raid channel as master. Do not attach any other drives to the same cable.
Enabled Raid boot bios and enter the raid bios.
Create a single mirror raid array.

The system should now be able to "see" the drive and installation of WinXP should be a breeze.

I know it sounds stupid that you have to create a raid array with only one disc to use the ide raid channel but it worked for me (well actually i went back to my old trusty IWill sideRaid adaptor, as SATA drives are not available at the moment).

Hope this is usefull.

Good luck.
