Having ordered all the stuff for my build the wonderful people at ebuyer have informed me that they have discontinued the ASRock 939 Dual SATA2.

Obviously this is a disaster for me as my system has been built around this board. There are two options for me - either get another board from somewhere else and pay a bit more for it than I would have done at ebuyer, or possibly change boards. I'd probably favour trying to simply get the same board somewhere else, but if anyone has any great suggestions from looking at my specs that could turn a bad situation into a good one then I'd like to hear from them.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Larry

The rest of my system spec is:

Processor - AMD (Venice) Athlon 64 3500+
Fan - Arctic Cooling 64 Pro
HDD - 2 DimondMax Drives
Graphics Card - PowerColor X1300 512mb DDR2 128bit Dual DVI TVO PCI-E
RAM - CRUCIAL 1GB DDR PC3200 400MHz (dual channel)
OS - Windows Media Centre Edition with remote
TV Card - Leadtek WinFast DTV1000
Case - Antec SLK3000B Black Super Mid Tower Case
PSU - 460w X Pro
Opticals - two IDE DVD drives (one recorder)

Does ebuyer sell the 939SLI-eSATA2? It's also from asrock, also with an ULI chipset and should cost about the same. It's got a few more feature (SLI-capabillity and eSATA2 being the most important).

I bought mine from Microdirect.co.uk
Right now they are £41.65 Inc VAT - tough to beat that price.

Bluetooth - they told me that they have discontinued it.

Raves - Thanks I've checked them out for the DUAL SATA 2 and agree they look v. competitive.

Bismark - I was thinking that as I landed on not using an AGP graphics card that the 939SLI-eSATA2 might be better in the long run as it would give me an extra PCIE slot. Does it have any other advs over the DUAL SATA 2 - at the mo I cant find the 939SLI-eSATA2 for less than £55 -dont think microdirect stock it.

This is the relevant bit of my message from ebuyer

The two items were then placed on a new order, order XXXXXXX, i then removed the discontinued item from the order and took payment for the remaining item, which cost £XXXXXXXX + vat.

The 'discontinued item is the DUAL SATA 2.

Odd as this is one of the items which is both highly and frequently rated by customers.

Yes, Microdirect are definitely a good bet, I get all my ASRock stuff from there, and even some of the more exotic things like my Sharkoon fans. Excellent customer service and competetive prices. (although not quite as good as Ebuyer, well worth the customer care you get). Just my 2 pence!

who's "they"? the etailer or ASrock? i can't imagine asrock discontinueing it cause it's the only agp/pciE mobo available. most of the ppl buying this mobo will be behind the times in technology, so unless everyone has already made the move to pciE, then this is not a mobo they'd discontinue any time soon.:/

btw, why is it a disaster if u can't use this mobo? if u have a pricey agp card, then maybe, if u're buying a pciE card, then there's a sea of mobos to choose from mate.

not sure who is discontinuing it - id say the etailer, but they must get a lot of business on this item as it gets such good ratings, so maybe not.

wouldnt be surprised if the rep of the etailer got it wrong - but as you can see from the mail above thats what they are telling me.

have cut my losses and gone for the 939SLI-eSATA2 from microdirect.
