Hey all,
I am new to overclocking, I am comp savy so I feel I can handle it. I just would like some pointers on what I may be able to set my system too.

My System:
-Amd 64 3500+ Clawhammer 2.2gig.
-Epox EP-8KDA3+ .
-1gig OCZ DDR PC-3500,433MHz,Performance Series,DualChannel.
-9800xt 256 Ati Video Card.
-Thermaltake Venus 12(I know this may suck as a heatsink, but it is what I have atm.)
-WD 80gig 7200rpm special edition HD.
-Aluminuim Case with 4 case fans:
1 fan front, 2 fans back, 1 fan side.
-430 watt power supply.

I just need help with the process, where do I start? Like what do I change first in the Bios? What are the rules of thumb in OC'ing? I don't need to get insane I would just like to get it to maybe 2.5-2.6gig if possible. I will be playing games on this setup, ie..Doom3 etc..

Should I get the newest Bios or leave it at the default one in came with in the box?(it works fine, but when oc'ing will I need the new version?)

*also posted in OC'ing section*

Thank You Much

OCbility depends on each component and set up environment but in general need to set up Advanced Chipset Features(ACF) and Power Bios Features(PBF) in Bios. Please refer to Bios Setup in User's Manual for details. FYI, DRAM Configuration in ACF; your memory SPD value but care must be taken for PBF set up as many dead A64 cpu reported due to high Vcore &/ Vdimm voltage.
You may try oc software such as ClockGen to evaluate the status of ocbility of your present setup before changing in Bios then gradually changing those in Bios. Anyway, remind you once again that you must be careful by doing so.
It seems the latest Bios kda34716 is most stable, so you may flash it using MagicFlash at your own risk though.
