If I'm not wrong, I think its no way to read cpu temp from Tbird for this board which read the temp only from internal diode..

I am running a 2500+ in a GA-7N400 Pro2 and my temps run around 56-60C depending on the load.
I am using a stock HS/FAN and I am looking for a suggestion for a better fan that fits on this board. The stock fan almost hits the cap on the board.

Barton 2500+, 256 Mb ram(PC 3200), quantum 30 gb, msi geforce 3, 350 w power supply, win xp pro,and i have the factory drivers for the mainboard
I have a Gigabyte ga-7n400l with a barton 2500+ overcklocked to 3200+,256 mb (kingmax ddr400), msi geforce3.I just bought a big cooler( titan ttc-d9tb,copper based).I heard someone with the same cooler that it keeps his procesor at max 43 degrees , and he has an amd xp 2600+(not barton)which sould warm more then my 2500+ barton.I have put thermal paste on the cpu.And before i overcklocked it it worked at 50-53(idle) and when it was used hardly it reached 57-58.After i overcklocked it at 3200+ it works at 54-55 (iddle) and at full load 58-59-59 C.I heard that gigabyte shows temperature with 10 degrees more than the real one.Is it true?Gygabyte says this temp is more accurate. But i have installed the f1 version of bios and my temperature was max 39-40 in full load when my barton was oc to 3200+(and my cpu vcore was 1.67).the f7 bios shows that i have 59 degrees and 1.72-1.74).Could it be an error of 20 degrees or they have increased the temp for safety?Another problem is that i can`t put my cpu at the normal vcore of 1.65 even when it is not oc at normal settings in bios.ANd at the vcore i have only normal,+10%,+5%.please help me.No one knew an answer for sure.I have done a test(after i oc-ed to 3200+) with the calculator from windows .I have put him to calculate 150000!(Fact,1*2*3*...*150000)and it reached 64 degrees.Could that be a problem? After that i have put sandra to do 20 tests one after another(at cpu arithmetic, multimedia, and cpu cache )The maximum temp was 62 degrees)and i haven`t put the case on .But it was stable. Please help!Give me some advices of what should i do.Why is that big difference between the temp reported in f1 and f7?(20 degrees)?

This has already been covered in your own post; As long as it runs stable, does it really matter what the temp. is? The newer BIOSes read the temp from a different part of the CPU Socket... much closer to the core, therefore the temperature will be read much higher. Also, AMD CPUs can run at temperatures of up to ~90 degrees.. so I wouldn't worry about your temps.
As long as your system is stable, and you KNOW that you have a good fan and thermal compound, then your system is fine.

I know it is hard to accept but I have built quite a few pro2 systems (all are overclocked) & they all have same temp readings as yours. It is something that we should get used too as it looks like gigabyte is going to leave things as they are in your bios.

I hope this has helped

I heard that gigabyte has increased the temperatures with f2 version of bios, and i tested it too. I have a Ga 7n400L, barton 2500+(oc to 3200) ,256mb pc3200(kingmax), and i bought it with f5 bios installed .i bought a big cooler titan d9tb and i have 54 degrees in idle, and when it was not oc-ed i had 50 ,at full load i had even 64 degrees, this happend with f7 bios. When i tried f1 my cpu had 43 in full load.I heard gigabyte has increased the temp with 10-15 degrees C for safety. But i don`t know that for shure.Other say that you have to decrease wit 28 f from the cpu temp to get its real temps. But i dodn`t know that for sure, because gigabyte didn`t say or do anything about it.do i have good temps?

S for the last post.I copied the wrong thing from the notepad.I asked that before.I din`t mean to.SO from what you are saying i shuould not worry .From what temperature up can i worry thow?67,68?How will this oc(from barton 2500 to 3200) take from my cpu lifetime, if it runs at full load at 60,61 or more.Would it last 4-5 years?
