you only needed 2 days for it? wow
the review is great but i miss some things, e.g. is the USB bug fixed (overclocking)? did you encounter other bugs? stability? ok, i know it's a developer board, but i'd be interested in it
the memory performance is awesome, but which application/game will be performing better (except sisoft sandra ;))?
though it looks promising i think i'll go for a sis735 board, we'll see

it's 2 whole working day = 16 hours! It's a ref board, although there are dip for 150mhz, it didn't work for me. USB i didn't try as the article is on performance, not compatibility.
Anyway, chipset still has bugs and it's definitely not mature yet to be release in retail board.

Great article - any Linpack data to probe
further the memory bandwidth of the KT266A?

Admin...
Very nice work!
You even made the extra effort to break out the SIS735 BIOS variances and resulting speeds they generated:
"We have to bear this in mind when we do the comparison. We took two sets of data for ECS SiS735 at both 133.9 and 132.77."
I see the "Little CHIPSET that could - SIS735" is still staying up with the BIG BOYS!
The K266A promises to be a welcome advance over the K266.
Now if VIA can just [B}DEBUG the 4-IN-1[/b] driver set, we may just have the added gain the chipset brings with it.

"At 132.77Mhz, SiS735 scored 7491, it is unbelievable.
Just imagine if the BIOS is fixed up to 133.33Mhz, wouldn't it be higher if we do a linear interpolation?
Even if we don't, At 132.77, a score of 7491 already overtook the rest of the chipsets making it the fastest in this test."

What BIOS did you use to b/mark the SIS735?

what does that "require new board design" thing mean?

You have heard of "plug-and-play?"
Walp...
The KT266A is coming in with a very unique approach for mainboard manufacturers...
All they gotta do to "upgrade" their existing stock (without reworking the wires / layout) is to simply PLUG-AND-PLAY the KT266A into the OLD KT266 chip slot!
Very handy, very quick, and *no extra cost* motherboard upgrade (for both the manufacturers *AND* the end users.
This will be a real "WIN-WIN" for end users...

let's move this thread up to mainboard/chipsets sector to continue the discussion.

Thanks.. well, we want to show the real results as some boards are indeed overclocked by 1 mhz. It makes a lot of difference in the benchmarks results.
