Sony P800
I'm considering buying the P800 next week. Been reading loads of reviews (some good, some not so good) on the phone. What worries me is the part on the Memory Stick Duo limitation of 16MB which basically means that after installing everything, one wont have space to run MP3 and Video files. Anyone knows whether Sony has released 64MB Memory Stick Duo? Otherwise How can I run all the software with such limited memory space? What bout the OS, is Symbian 7.0 reliable? Are there many softwares that are compatible with this OS? I reckon its not as good as the Palm OS. Any views and additional tips on the P800 will be hugely welcomed. Thanks

128MB Memory Stick Duo is already available.
you can do a "Search" here on the forums, use the keyword "p800". you'll find information on software availability, more pros/cons and many others. check OCW's review of the P800 too.

Frankly ... no one really knows whether the OS will lasts the distance. The P800 is the only device using Symbian 7 thus far and it's pretty stable to say the least. If softwares is your main priority .. then this is not for you. You're better off with a Palm or PPC.
To add, the Series60 aka Symbian 6 is faring far better in the software dept than its newer sibling. Numerous manufacturers are supporting this platform too like Samsung, Panansonic, Siemens etc. So, it make sense to develop software for a 'bigger market' instead of the smaller Symbian 7.

i love my P800 but there are a few parts of it that i disslike such as it not haveing t9 input
(i perfer to use the number pad to type then useing the on screen keybored or the scrible Like program to write letters on the screen with the style)
there are many good things about the phone i think it is the best phone/PDA combo out.
i am afriad that it is limeted to 128mb DUO which just is not anothe to keep MP3s MP4s pictures you take with the camera and apps and games there is a 256mb duo out but it does not work on the P800 because SonyEricsson have locket the phone to 128mb max.
(you can buy a 128mb duo from your nearest SonyEricsson serviec center, or from most local Sony Style stores.
I think you should buy the P800.

also to add up, you have to remember that the P800 is nolonger just a phone... it's a full blown PDA with the same vulnerabilities as a PC when installing new apps... we cannot assume that ALL apps are written well... some are, some arent... some are bloated, some are efficient.

An alternative to the P800 combo that I can think of is the new Palm Zire 81 (with camera) and the Nokia 3650. Combine these two and you get a P800 ( some would even argue that the Nokia + Palm combination is better). What do you guys think, should I go for the P800 or the Nokia + Palm

well P800 instead of the 3650 + palm zire combo would eat up less space and you would get best of both worlds in one unit and with the P800 + 128mb duo you could download the simpsons onto your duo (in MP4 format) and watch them on your P800 (u could do the same on the 3650 but then that phones screen is not even the size f a handheld TV)

i love the hybrid of both PDA/Phone. i used to have a separate PDA and mobile phone. now, that the i have the P800, i can sync easier, browse on one device and not to be confused where i had the contanct/calendar entry. hah! and one less item from my pocket.

same here although i did buy a Siemens PDA about 2 months ago (i just liket its features and it was on special offer lol) but i still realy only use my P800 but a pocket pc does have its advantages such as there being a wider range of apps for them when the P800s apps and games have tobe on the uiq platform or on Java. (morphun have made a driver for the P800 so you can play morphun games on the P800 the 3650 and the 7650. you can play the 2D games and the up and comeing 3D games.)

Are there many freewares for the P800? If so can you please list down some of the websites. I'm also looking at things from the economic point of view. My policy is never buya gadget that goes beyond 1/4 of my salary, and unfortunately the P800 at 700US goes beyond the 1/4 mark
