Intel Core i5 to launch around 7 September
For users who are not prepared to fork out a fortune for the Core i7, the good news is that the mainstream Core i5 is about to be available in September this year. According to what we gathered, the date should be 7 September.
The new processor will be launched on 7th September but the chipset Intel P55 will be announced sometime in August.
Different from the Core i7 which uses a LGA1366 socket, the Core i5 uses a LGA 1156 connector. The Core i5 will also have an integrated memory controller but it supports dual channel DDR3 instead of tri channel on the existing LGA 1156 Core i7.
